Simply put, the dream: I want someone to go do stuff with on beautiful days and make it fun to go do stuff with even when the weather is crap, someone to go out to dinner with and cook with or cook for, someone to watch movies and enjoy music with, someone who appreciates me and whom I can look forward to seeing who will smile when they see me. (And the reality, a nice evening of wine or craft beer and food and conversation could be very pleasant and maybe a good start.) Might you be that man for me? Read along and see: I'm smart, strong, silly, vulnerable, able to fit in, but impossible to pigeonhole. I have a very wide range of interests and believe that life is too short to sit back and wait for it to happen. I believe in true love, but I have lived long enough to know that the perfect match doesn't mean a perfect person. Communication and honesty are prerequisite criteria for me. I love photography and all kinds of art. Visual, musical, verbal, written, art moves me and makes me happy, makes me cry, makes me happy to be alive and be so lucky as to be witness to and participate in creativity and imagination. Low-brow to high-brow, I appreciate all sorts of fun and beauty. Whipped up on the fly, labored over for days, or bought for cheap on the street, I love the pleasures of eating. I love traveling. I've seen a total solar eclipse in Bolivia, summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, jumped off the cliff at the southernmost point in the US (in Hawaii), hiked fjords in Alaska, chilled out in Thailand and Cambodia, made a whirlwind out of visiting Hong Kong and Singapore and Thailand in a week, swum with sea turtles and sea lions and sharks in the Galapagos, tried some rock-climbing, zip-lining, and bungee-jumping, and I want to do SO much more! I just need someone to do it all with. Really though, a lot of the time I find that life itself is all the adventure I need; I can be perfectly content staying home with just the two of us or spending quality time with friends. I've lived here for a long time, but there are still so many things to do and see. As much as I enjoy traveling abroad, I love traveling in Japan, too. I'd like to make it up to Tokyo more often. So ... I love to travel and do things ... Any fun suggestions? ;-) For the Golden Week holiday at the beginning of May a few years ago, I had an awesome 4 days with two close girlfriends climbing some peaks (checked off two more mountains on the list of 100 Famous Mountains in Japan), camping, and going to a couple of hot springs. That summer, I climbed mountains in Hokkaido and Hakuba, and dropped in on Tokyo to party. In the last two years, I traveled to Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Okinawa, the Galápagos Islands, Denver, and Australia's Sunshine Coast. Until something or someone otherwise occupies my time, I'll be working, working out, reading, watching movies and my favorite shows, taking photos, meeting up with friends, and checking in here hoping to uncover a rare gem. Who knows, maybe this open-minded, independent, thoughtful, fun-loving Texan woman in Japan will get lucky and find the man who will move heaven and earth and cross the seven seas to be with her!
