Live with passion! From Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm I become Mr Focus! I work as an IT security engineer, with a serious bunch of people ( who like to wear dark colors!),and to be honest, they are people who I have to work with rather than choose to work with. I envisage myself moving up away from my current job title, which of course is why I am very focused when I am there. I choose to do this because 1. I'm very good at it, and 2. It funds the life I currently love to live. My job makes me appreciate my friends and the time I spend with them a whole lot more, which is great. When the clock hits 6:00 I switch off! I enjoy the rewards of a long hard days work and when I'm not working focus on enjoying my self to the limit! Personality: I am a positive person, as I believe that no matter what challenges you are faced with the only way to beat it is by applying a positive attitude. I have always been told that I am a kind person, which is something that I take great pride in. Whenever one of my friends or family members need help, I do not see at as a hindrance, I see it as an opportunity to make someone's situation easier and more enjoyable. There's a story behind this you can find out on our first date. I love to be around people, so I guess in my previous life( if you believe in that kind of thing) I would have been a dog rather than a cat- not that cats are that bad, but I definitely could not imagine living the life of a solitary creature. In day to day life I can be ultra laid back , and allow things to flow and take their natural course,( imagine a Bob Marley track when you read that bit) However, this does not mean I am so laid back that I will let an opportunity float past me or that I lack the passion to go for what I want. In fact, my passion is what motivates me and its what has helped me gain everything I have yet wanted to achieve both on a personal and professional level. I have many personal goals which I want to achieve, from the obscure to the giant. Want to find out more you'll just have to wait until our first date.

Hi there. I’m an optimist, a realist, an Englishman, and something of a romantic :) 日本語もできるので、日本語のメッセージを送ってもOKです。 I first came to Japan on a business trip, immediately took a liking to the place and so I never left (笑). I think London is still my favourite city with Tokyo a close second. And third? Probably Mexico City. I work in finance and like it a lot. There's always something interesting going on and new developments to look at. It's rarely dull. After graduating from university I started working in an investment bank as a trader and continued that until I joined an investment fund a couple of years ago. Occasionally I teach the finance course of an MBA at one of Tokyo's universities. It's quite a challenge because I teach in Japanese and so have to think carefully before embarking on explanations of various financial ideas. Exhausting but rewarding. Outside of work, I have a strong interest in the arts which grew out of the study of English literature at school. I love theatre, films, galleries and architecture; I'll definitely be going to the Andy Warhol Retrospective at the Mori Gallery...soon!! I'm a minor defender of modernist architecture, such as the South Bank Centre in London, but only so long as it isn't the dominant theme of a city. Art Deco buildings are always cool. If you are wondering what I'm talking about then check-out the Hoover Building in London or the Teien Art Museum in Tokyo. Unfortunately, Tokyo has demolished most of its art deco stuff but there are some excellent examples preserved at a place called Meiji Mura in Inuyama. Have a look online...you'll be surprised :) Other hobbies and interests include sports, guitar, Latin dance and films. Oh, let's not forget good food and wine...and champagne, obviously :)

I'm an American who has been living in Tokyo for over 20 years and has also been traveling regularly to Shanghai for the past 15. I spend most of my free time writing fiction. To make a living, I teach business English and perform copy editing and copywriting for Japanese companies; however, my interest, avocation-wise, is my writing. I enjoy literature (novels and other) and movies. Favorite movies include: "Through a Glass Darkly," "Persona," "Cries and Whispers," "Scenes from a Marriage" (all written and directed by Ingmar Bergman); "Little Miss Sunshine"; "The Last Station" (about the final days of Tolstoy). Favorite literature includes: "Wuthering Heights" (Emily Bronte); "The Gambler" (Dostoevsky); "Anna Karenina" (Tolstoy); "The Song of Everlasting Sorrow" (Wang Anyi); Shakespeare's sonnets and their exploration of the infinite facets of love (e.g., 119: "What wretched errors hath my heart committed,/Whilst it hath thought itself so blessed never!"). Favorite songs/singers/musicians include: "It Ain't Me, Babe" (Bob Dylan); "There's a Place" (The Beatles); "Can You Tell?" (Ra Ra Riot); Brahms Symphony 4 (especially the 1st movement); Eminem; "My Name Is Luca" (Suzanne Vega); Chinese Qin music played by (Yu Bo-sun)(has a striking Mississippi blues quality about it); "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" (Hank Williams)—some of the greatest minimalist lyrics of all time (that actually convey something); Jimi Hendrix; Roy Orbison; John Coltrane (esp. the "Interstellar Space" album); "Help Me Make It Through the Night" (Willie Nelson). On a typical night, I could be: (1) writing; (2) reading a book or watching a movie; (3) having dinner or a drink with a friend or a date. I would typically not be at a disco or similar venue. (That said, I could share a good time at venues like these, given the right company.)
