I love meeting new people, trying new things, good conversation, exploring the city and the outdoors, tasting beer, brewing beer, playing/writing/recording music, singing, animals, renovating houses, writing/poetry/reading, travel and road trips, hiking/camping .... and Greek yogurt. I play guitar/bass, some drums and piano, do a little singing. I write, record, and produce music (using Logic Pro X mostly) and have played in several bands in Portland and in China. I do some writing when I can, especially poetry and song lyrics - not nearly as much as I did earlier in my life - music kind of took over as a greater passion. Real estate investing is currently my main business. I also co-founded a brewery/tap house in China in 2016 and may be contract brewing beer again soon in both the US and Asia. Previously, I worked in microelectronics, and prior to that, nuclear power. I love theoretical physics and have read a ton about it; also love stuff like history, geography, cultural studies, etc. I have traveled to Europe twice, as wall as Costa Rica and several places in Asia. I've lived all over the US but have been in Portland more than twice as long as anywhere else. Stuff I do which may or may not have anything to do with "like": Cleaning and organizing; home improvement; working out and running ... cuz you never know when you may need to wrestle an alligator ... or run from one. Who I'm looking for! "I want you and the skyline - these are my demands" Absolute Musts: You must be able to walk on water ... It was no big deal for Jesus - why not you? That's really all I ask. "Remember, when you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself as someone who needs to judge." - Dr. Wayne Dyer

I cook for fun. I can make almost anything. Sometimes I follow recipes :-). My favorites are Japanese, Italian, Mexican, and on and on. I worked 2 years in Japan, so that is my favorite to cook. Japan has great non-sushi food :-) for the non-sushi folks. I cook to please. I am an early riser, so you can expect breakfast in bed on weekends. I am not vegetarian or vegan, but I like vegetables (except brussels sprouts). I am a big fan of good food! I love to travel, both internationally and domestically. I've been to lots of countries in Asia, Europe, Scandinavia, South America, the Caribbean, the South Pacific and Africa. I want to go everywhere (almost). I am happy to go wherever you want. I can do either a fancy resort or sleep in a tent. Both are fun. I like to explore. I am a lucky professional with an awesome job. I don't work weekends, have lots of vacation time, and have every other Friday off. I am not lazy. I do dishes, laundry, vacuum, clean toilets... I give good foot and back massages. I like slowly pulling my fingers through hair and massaging heads. I like to snuggle, especially when it is cold! I don't play video games (I try, but I suck at it), and I watch a normal amount of tv. I like going out to eat, but I don't like the super noisy night life. I am patient. Example: Imagine driving down a small dirt road 30 miles from town in Brazil’s Pantanal. You approach a wood bridge. It seems like you can drive around it because it is dry season. You decide to cross the bridge, because, well, it is a bridge. Halfway across, a tire hits a plank. The plank rises and crashes into your fuel pump. Fuel leaks and the car is stuck. It is nearly 100 degrees and you failed at Portuguese for travelers. You can say “onde fica” (where is), but not much else. There are many ways to react to this type of situation. I just rolled with the punches, took it as a learning experience, and now have the story to tell. A truck eventually drove by, took me to town, and a fuel pump arrived from another town a few hours later. Note to self. What seems obvious isn’t always right. Further note to self, learn "help" before "where is" when travelling in a non-English speaking country. I am polite. Examples: My father grew up in Texas and taught me the Southern way, and I lived in Japan for 2 years. Enough said. When I am bored, I study Japanese. I am outgoing, compassionate, sympathetic, and happy. There is zero chance that I will move out of Washington State while I am still working. I have a great job that requires me to be here, and I want to be near my son, at least while he thinks I am super cool :-). I am open to retire almost anywhere.
