I want to bring out the BEST in YOU.
I could be described as spontaneous, friendly, life-long learner, optimist, not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. In my spare time, I like to relax, watch movies, read, and travel whatever the mood holds. I am not big on the club scene anymore, but once in awhile is ok. I believe one of the most important qualities in a relationship is respect. What makes me different from others is my inner strength and determination, I know what I want from life and I know how to get it. In a nutshell, I'm a simple guy with big dreams.

You're heart is what matters.
I’ll admit it, I’m a little old-fashioned when it comes to my dating style. I open doors and like to go for drinks and dinner on the first date. But it’s all part of what makes me a gentleman. I’m looking for someone who is always up for life’s adven

I want to go back!
I'd love to meet a friendly, loving Japanese girl and develop a serious lifelong relationship. I enjoy exploring, bicycle riding, long walks, playing video games, trying new things, and learning. I lived in Japan for 4 years, and would love to return someday, but unfortunately my career took me back to America for now. I still travel to Japan for about 5 weeks every year, and am hoping to meet someone who is flexible enough to live in either country, where ever our careers might take us.

Driven, adventurous, and always up for a challenge
I’m a deep thinker with a laid-back vibe, always seeking growth and adventure. I work nights, study physics, and produce music. I enjoy strategic games, exploring different cultures, and staying sharp—whether through mentalism, gaming, or music production. Life’s too short for hesitation, and I believe in taking chances. If you like good conversation, humor, and a mix of intellect and spontaneity, we’ll get along well.

Open and Seeking, but patient.
I am a single man who has been self-employed most of my life but am now "semi-retired" after running a successful business in the music industry, teaching at two universities, performing and composing in classical guitar and jazz, documentary film music, and quite a bit of contract recording studio work. I've also been a concert producer, performed on countless stages in a wide array of music styles, taught in my home studio private students at least twenty hours each week, and ran a jazz "camp" for talented music students during the Summers, all in addition to composing and recording my own creative art music for solo guitar and ensembles. I rarely worked less than sixty hours a week and most times did much more as a lot of the kinds of work I mentioned above were being done at the same time. I loved what I did and still do. Music has been with me my entire life. But now I have backed off this schedule, still work in music, but am enjoying a far more relaxed schedule as I ended my business, sold my home and investment rental properties, invested my finances, designed my life to be able to live debt-free, and moved back to Philadelphia in April of 2013. I have for over eight years now been living comfortably, simply, and with freedom and loving it. I have reached a point in my life where having done many years of carrying encumbrances such as home mortgages, business loans, auto loans, credit card debts, etc., they would be like a yoke around my neck today and I'd rather spend my money and investments on living life instead of living my life for the bank. So if you are searching for the guy who dresses in Armani with a multiple six-figure US income to give you a big house with a pool in the backyard and two Audis in the garage, sorry, but I am definitely not your man and you can move on and hopefully find your dream husband. I have created a life now where am still involved musically but can choose what I want to be involved in creatively as I do not have the same financial pressures that were required to run a full-time business and take care of property investments. I am living a simpler life now which affords me much free time and freedom of movement. Maybe if I am lucky I will meet a nice woman who wants to share in this kind of lifestyle now and who has no children and does not want children, or whose children are fully grown and living on their own with independence. Though children are one of the most beautiful creations in this world, I am past the point of wanting to raise a family and would rather enjoy other people's kids rather than my own. I enjoy traveling and have close friends in many places around the world who I usually stay with when I visit. I spent six months in Kolkata, West Bengal, which changed my life. I have traveled to Europe several times and spent time in Nepal and Indonesia. I actually had a wonderful opportunity for a teaching position that was offered to me in Kathmandu and I was making plans to move. But sadly, serious life issues and responsibilities with my family, my father at that point who passed in 2007, intervened as they can with most of us. In North America I have lived in Boston, Montreal, Providence R.I., Philadelphia, and Montpelier, Vermont, the state where I ended up for half of my life while also traveling. I actually lived in Montpelier in the US and Montreal in Canada simultaneously for several years as they are very near to each other and an easy drive. I have also visited many cities in the US and elsewhere mostly for work but also play. There is much more I would like to experience in and out of cities. I am a voracious reader on many subjects carrying three books I may be reading at any moment in my backpack constantly and spend quite a bit of time researching just to keep learning. I am a critical thinker from the European Enlightenment era of Francis Bacon, Rene Descartes, John Locke, Baruch Spinoza, Voltaire, and others who set the stage for what became the United States of America with the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution and their respective primary creators Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Both of these men were inspired and influenced by the Enlightenment thought of these philosophers. I am currently reading Stephen Hicks now with his insightful and clear explanation of post-modern thinking (if it can even be called thinking) which has overtaken North American and Western culture since the mid-twentieth century and which dominates our universities and now primary and secondary education systems. With its stolid stance against Enlightenment critical thought and abject rejection of any possibility of a rationally based objective reality arrived at through rational study and discourse, post-modernism rejects any facts of a situation or issue presented no matter how true they may be since how one "feels" and their "personal lived emotional experience" of what is in front of them carries the predominate weight of reality even if what is there is obviously not at all what is the rational reality of what is. And I hope this makes sense. :) This is no way to live in and develop and retain a high-tech civilization and many of today's problems stem from this. And as a political and cultural writer on national and world issues, I have a strong aversion to post-modernism in art, science, politics, and education. I also have a strong aversion to pop-politics in art as it becomes no longer art but is instead is reduced to little more than propaganda. This has been happening even in art schools here in the US because of the hard infiltration of far-Left Marxism that is threatening the USA, has infected all of our education system including universities and is what all of the riots are really about here if anyone is aware of it all. I am not a follower of any religion today although I have read extensively on most religions for educational, historical, and cultural knowledge to understand my own culture more and the cultures of other people on our planet. My thoughts about religion can be expressed through a quote by the philosopher Albert Camus: "I don't believe in God, but I am not an atheist." And I am not an atheist because though I don't follow any religious path, I also must be humble enough to understand that I really cannot "know" if there is God or not. I do not watch or own a television at all as I find it annoying, feel that what passes for journalism on "news" shows is really little more than infotainment, and honestly, I just cannot abide the obnoxious ads. But, I like streaming movies and good documentaries on my large PC monitor. I enjoy working out at my gym three days a week, walking 9km of cardio exercise five days a week, and due to my location where I enjoy quartering in a large open loft in the one-hundred-twenty-year-old Wolf Paper Co. building in the old East Callowhill manufacturing district here in Philadelphia, (which is one hour by train south of New York City for your location reference) I can walk everywhere and avoid driving except when necessary. Philadelphia is one of the best cities for walking in the US with a walk score rating of 97 out of 100 and has an excellent public transportation system. Growing large and small plants is something I've done for decades and continue to do especially as the light in here due to the massive wall of windows and large industrial skylight is amazing plus it brings life from the outside world to the inside. My walls are covered with art of all kinds from many different cultures as I cannot live without art as I couldn't without music in my life, bookshelves are all around, and my music instruments and work needs are close at hand. I've liked living alone for a very long time but am feeling how nice it may be to share life with a nice smart woman to spend time creatively making a better life for both of us. My desire is to meet someone who is for lack of a better word, real. And, I am open.... P.S. My photos are from 2016 through 2020, with the most recent being the second thumbnail from the left in the bottom row which was taken on Oct. 24th, 2020 at an outdoor cafe a few minutes walk from my apartment.
